IBRS Breakfast Briefing : 'The Cloud is a journey, not a product!'

Defining the Cloud is proving to be elusive. Partially this is because vendors are trying to neatly define Cloud around their set of products and services. This creates competing, product based definitions for what is actually the organisation's aspiration to create a “better IT environment”.

Viewed as an aspiration, the Cloud becomes a journey to create an IT environment with specific characteristics, such as cost transparency, utility pricing, capacity on demand, commodity pricing, self-service, location and device independence. Like all journeys there are many different paths which depend on where you start and where you want to go.

In this session Dr Kevin McIsaac will will present IBRS's view of the cloud in a 30 min presentation. This will be followed by a facilitated discussion between the attendees.  To make the most of this session bring your top questions and concerns about the Cloud and be prepared to discuss your views on the opportunities and pitfalls it presents.
