IBRS analyst James Turner said he recently attended a big briefing hosted by Cisco to promote its Cius tablet to the analyst community, in which it became apparent that the company itself didn't understand how to best position the device.
"We spent two hours on an analyst call focused on the little device itself and all its features, then we had individual briefings with their product staff who immediately started talking about the enterprise stack and how the Cius fits with established enterprise applications," Mr Turner said.
"It was a very different message to what the other Cisco people had been talking about. There was a lot of confusion there, which is not going to communicate well to the market."
