AUSTRALIA'S data centre industry is going through a development boom, with $2.1 billion in investments announced between January 1 and June 30.
This figure, compiled by IDC Australia's associate research director Matthew Oostveen, includes $60 million being spent by Macquarie Telecom on a new data centre in Sydney's North Ryde technology precinct and Polaris's $200m data centre in Victoria.
That's not all, and it does not factor in private data centre investments. It comes on top of recently commissioned capacity, such as the $77m Sydney data centre opened by Equinix in June.
