IBRS analyst James Turner said it would be a fundamental mistake for Apple to attempt to portray the succession of Mr Cook as business-as-usual, as the culture of the organisation would now need to change dramatically. "For Apple to maintain the expectations it has set in recent times is going to be a massive challenge, and I think the only way they can do it is by doing a really deep purge internally," Mr Turner said. "Apple is the classic case of the cult of personality and when you inculcate a group of people to work in a particular way under a very strong leadership, then it is unlikely that the re−maining group is going to be able to maintain that same level of cohesion and focus once the leadership goes."
