VENDORiQ: Microsoft Launches Viva Glint

The inclusion of Viva Glint in Microsoft's Viva Suite is an example of how AI can impact decade-old approaches to employee surveys. By 2027, IBRS predicts that human resources functions will be radically changed by the introduction of AI in every aspect of their processes and tools.

The Latest

6 June 2023: In July, Microsoft will bring Glint, which was previously a subsidiary of LinkedIn, into the Viva customer experience platform. Glint utilises AI to offer enterprises valuable insights into their staff engagement and wellbeing, identifying risks, opportunities, and real-time recommendations. Microsoft has also revealed that Copilot, a feature enabling the summarisation and analysis of employee comments, will be integrated into Viva Glint at a later date. This addition will facilitate leaders in exploring feedback and interacting with natural language AI to ask questions relating to employee data and engagement within the Viva environment.

Why It’s Important

The inclusion of Viva Glint in Microsoft’s Viva Suite and the integration of Copilot bring several significant benefits to organisations. Viva Glint’s AI-powered capabilities will allow companies to gain more valuable insights into their enterprise health, so top management can better identify potential risks in real-time.

The inclusion of Viva Glint offers a new approach for HR managers to monitor staff engagement, satisfaction and wellbeing. Previously understanding these staff factors involved surveying employees’ opinions, a time-consuming and not always effective approach. Glint can assist by leveraging AI to review data from various sources, and provide understanding of employees’ sentiments. The integration of natural language AI enables HR leaders to ask questions more naturally.

IBRS predicts that HR functions will change significantly over the next three to five years. AI services will significantly alter how human resources activities are done: from workforce planning to recruitment, onboarding to training, succession planning to measuring employee engagement. The tasks HR professionals will do in five years time will look little like what they do today, though the desired business outcomes will remain consistent.

Who’s Impacted

  • HR teams
  • Training groups
  • Operational teams

What’s Next?

  • Leaders must engage with the employee engagement manager or equivalent within the organisation. Managers should discuss recent employee engagement results: what insights they provide and what questions need to be further explored.
  • Improve continuous collaboration using AI-infused tools. AI algorithms can analyse data and provide intelligent recommendations, facilitating decision-making and promoting effective collaboration among team members. Select tools that have the potential to optimise collaboration processes, enabling seamless and efficient workflows in organisations.
