GenAI and ‘Information Hyperinflation’: Australian Organisations Grapple with Data Security – Mi3 – 18 March 2024

‘Information hyperinflation’ is here. GenAI is creating a data explosion that traditional security and compliance measures simply cannot handle.

Our latest research identifies a critical challenge facing Australian organisations: ‘information hyperinflation’. The explosion of data, accelerated by Generative AI, is rapidly outpacing the ability of businesses to manage it securely and ensure compliance.

The findings highlight a significant confidence gap. This shows that the people on the front line know the problem is growing faster than their capacity to solve it.

As IBRS research shows, “professionals indicate that new approaches are needed to deal with the sheer scale of the data problem as they strive to ensure compliance’.

The solution lies in fighting fire with fire. While AI contributes to the data deluge, AI-empowered solutions are essential to managing it. Technologies like content cognition can automate the classification and protection of information at a scale humans cannot achieve, improving compliance and mitigating risk in an era of unprecedented data growth.
