VENDORiQ: Microsoft Adds ChatGPT to Azure OpenAI Service

Microsoft launched the integration of ChatGPT into Azure OpenAI Service. Will this trigger more generative AI tools to help enterprises leverage business solutions that can address their specific problems?

The Latest

Azure has announced the integration of ChatGPT into its Azure OpenAI Service, allowing developers to create enterprise-grade conversational apps with the latest generative AI technologies. The preview of GPT-4 and ChatGPT (gpt-35-turbo) also offers potential for more advanced applications, with improved problem-solving abilities and domain expertise. The Azure AI infrastructure provides enterprise-readiness, compliance, data security, and privacy controls, and integrations with other Azure services for enterprises to better streamline communication and create virtual assistants.

Why It’s Important

The service is currently available in limited regions, namely East and South Central United States and West Europe. It may take some time before Australian enterprises can offer their assessment on the product. Nevertheless, this signals important progress in the range of products and services that will allow enterprises to customise AI models to suit their particular needs, such as generating content, summarising information, performing semantic searches, and translating natural language into code.

While ChatGPT language model pricing in Azure is unavailable, as the product is still in the preview stage, IBRS expects this to be lower than the current Code-Davinci rate of AUD$0.149623, allowing more developers to benefit from the cost-savings brought by advanced language models.

What’s Next?

  • Establish an innovation group consisting of both ICT and business users to promote familiarity and comprehension of generative AI technologies.
  • Begin a few experimental case studies within the company to investigate the capabilities and possibilities of generative AI.
